LANSDALE - A partnership involving four community groups broke ground Tuesday on North Penn Commons, a visionary $30 million campus on East Main Street in Lansdale, Pa.

North Penn Commons is being constructed in a partnership that includes Advanced Living Communities, Manna on Main Street, the North Penn YMCA and the PEAK Center. The four agencies will share the campus.

A 60,000-square-foot building will be constructed that will house Manna on Main Street, which will operate a soup kitchen and the North Penn Commons public café as well as the PEAK Center, which offers programs for older adults. It will also have 60 affordable homes for seniors managed by Advanced Living Communities. As part of the project, the North Penn YMCA will upgrade and expand its facilities. The campus will be connected by a lobby, which will be the hub of the entire campus.

The YMCA expansion was designed by Howard Kulp Architects and Raphael Architects. Kramer + Marks is the architect for the lobby, PEAK and Manna spaces and the Advanced Living residences. Construction is expected to be completed by spring 2015.
